Ukraine honours journalists killed in Kramatorsk drone attack

On Monday, Ukraine held a funeral in Kyiv for journalist Olena Gubanova and cameraman Yevgeny Karmazin, who were killed in a Russian drone strike on a civilian vehicle in Kramatorsk on 23 October 2025.

Around 100 people, including relatives, friends, and colleagues, attended the farewell at St. Mykhailivsky Cathedral.

Olena Gubanova was born in 1982 in Yenakiieve, Donetsk region. According to the Ukrainian news outlet Mezha.net, she began working in journalism as a student and later presented on Radio Melody and a regional television channel. From March 2021, she worked at the Dim channel, and in June 2023 she was awarded the Order of Princess Olga, III degree.

Yevgeny Karmazin, born in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, had worked since 2022 as a camera operator for Ukraine’s state international broadcasting channels. He was 33 years old.
