Trump has been cool to a proposal for the United States to sell Tomahawks to NATO allies that would then transfer them to Kyiv, saying he does not want to escalate the war with Russia.
Aboard Air Force One, Trump indicated his stance had not shifted. Asked whether he was considering such a deal, he replied: “No, not really,” while adding he could change his mind.
Trump and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte discussed the Tomahawk idea at a White House meeting on October 22.
Rutte said on Friday the issue was under review and that the decision rested with Washington.
Tomahawk missiles have a range of about 2,500 km, enough to reach targets deep inside Russia, including Moscow.
