U.S. and Russian delegations are set to meet in Miami this weekend to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, Politico reported Wednesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The Russian side will reportedly be represented by Kirill Dmitriev, an envoy of President Vladimir Putin, while the U.S. delegation will include businessman Steve Witkoff and former presidential adviser Jared Kushner.

The talks are expected to follow recent meetings in Berlin, where Witkoff and Kushner discussed the conflict with Ukrainian and European leaders. The American envoys later claimed to have secured “strong” security guarantees for Ukraine and expressed confidence that Moscow could be persuaded to accept them. European leaders, however, were reportedly surprised by those assurances.

Earlier this week, U.S. officials suggested that talks in Miami could involve Ukrainian representatives at a working or military level, focusing on territorial issues and security guarantees.

Despite American optimism, Politico noted that Russia has shown no signs of softening its stance. On Wednesday, Putin reiterated his goal of “liberating historic Russian lands” and insulted European states, calling them “pigs” trying to “feast on Russia’s collapse.” He added that meaningful dialogue with Europe was unlikely as long as current elites remain in power.
