Zelensky wrote on X the Azot chemical plant was important to Russia's explosives production.

He also said Ukrainian forces had targeted Russian military logistics in Moscow-occupied areas of Ukraine.

'The war is coming back to where it came from'

"Ukraine is carrying out its plan of long-range sanctions against Russia and the assigned tasks regarding mid-range strikes in response to Russia's refusal to end this war," Zelensky said.

He added: "We have offered the Russian leadership every possible format for negotiations – and the only response was continued aggression and attempts to expand it. It stands to reason that the war is coming back to where it came from."

The governor of Russia's Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Yevrayev, said a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack had targeted the region, the Reuters news agency reported.

Yevrayev said most of the drones were shot down, but some reached fuel storage facilities, sparking a major fire, according to Reuters.

Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian oil refineries, fuel depots and military-industrial facilities as it expands its domestically produced long-range drone and missile capabilities, Reuters reported.
