Russian forces shelled the Ukrainian capital from Saturday night into Sunday, including with ballistic missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the air‑raid alert lasted around 50 minutes.
“Russian ballistic missiles again landed on Kyiv tonight. The attack caused fires and destruction in several districts of the Ukrainian capital. The free world’s response cannot be war fatigue, but even greater determination to combat Russian terror,” Kosiniak‑Kamysz wrote on the X platform.
“We are doing everything we can to ensure that Poles never wake up to the sound of sirens and explosions. That is why we are strengthening our own defense, supporting Ukraine — which is depleting the Kremlin’s military capabilities — and developing strategic alliances within NATO and the European Union,” added the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that falling debris ignited fires in at least three districts. One blaze broke out on two floors of a multi‑story apartment building in the central part of the city. Reuters also cited unofficial online channels showing fires in various areas of Kyiv. The agency recalled President Volodymyr Zelensky’s warning from Friday that “new Russian attacks are likely within the next 48 hours.”
