Organised by the Euromaidan group under the motto #terrorussia, the rally attracted Ukrainians based in Warsaw, as well as Polish people who voiced their opposition to Vladimir Putin’s assault on Ukraine.
Protesters, equipped with placards and Ukrainian flags, demanded that the European Union declare Russia a terrorist state, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
They also called for a full embargo on Russian hydrocarbons.
The chants of “Russia are terrorists,” and “Embargo” reverberated around the Russian embassy in Warsaw’s Belwederska street.
Demonstrators also unveiled a lifesize Russian Matryoshka doll. It turned out to be filled with plastic replicas of lethal weapons: rockets and bombs.
“This is the true face of Russia - a terrorist state,” the organisers said.
They also thanked the Polish people for the help extended to Ukraine and Ukrainians.
Potesters ended the rally with a joint rendition of the Ukrainian national anthem.
Similar protests were held on Sunday in 52 other cities around the world, according to the organisers.
Warsaw police said that the two-and-a-half-hour event was “peaceful and incident free.”
Sunday was day 144 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
