Entitled Chopin. The Space Concert, the event will be hosted by America’s National Air and Space Museum, at its Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, in Chantilly, officials said.

The concert has been organised by the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) and the Alliance for Innovation (AFI), in partnership with the Polish Embassy in Washington and the Polish Cultural Institute New York.

'World class treatment and care for victims of Ukraine war'

Chopin. The Space Concert seeks to raise “awareness and funds to establish a Center of Excellence to train and support Polish and Ukrainian medical specialists in Polytrauma (Traumatic Brain Injury, PTSD, Acute Stress Disorder, Amputations, and other trauma related injuries and systems of care) in Poland,” officials said.

The Poland-based facility will provide “world class treatment and care” for “civilians and veterans with some of the most complex injuries resulting from the current war,” according to organisers.

The concert’s audience is encouraged to donate generously to help fund the creation of this centre of excellence in Poland for victims of trauma from Ukraine, officials said.

More information about the planned facility can be found on its official website.

Chopin. The Space Concert starts at 8 pm on Saturday, March 18, and the tickets are already sold out, according to organisers.

During the concert, Polish pianist Karol Radziwonowicz will play ten of Chopin’s works, including Étude in C Minor Op. 10 No. 12, Nocturne in E-flat Major Op. 9 No. 2 and Polonaise in A Major Op. 40 No. 1, “illustrated with the most beautiful photos of our planet taken from the panoramic dome of the International Space Station,” reporters were told.

Meanwhile, Polish-born artist Agnieszka Pilat will unveil a new painting, intended to “commemorate the shared mission of Poland, Ukraine, and the United States following the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion, and the battle for democratic values all have undertaken,” organisers said.

Saturday is day 388 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
