The recent destruction of bridges by Ukrainian forces in southwestern Russia is likely part of a strategy to encircle Russian troops along the border, according to Polish Radio news agency IAR. The Ukrainian military has gained control of areas near Tiotkino, about 142 kilometers from Kursk.

Despite these successes, Ukrainian forces are encountering significant challenges in the Donbas region. Russia continues to deploy its assault units and is making slow but steady progress, leveraging its numerical superiority.

Ukrainian news agency Unian reports that the most intense fighting is occurring near the strategically important city of Pokrovsk.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on social media that there have been 145 clashes with Russian forces in the past 24 hours in this area.

Tensions are also high near the city of Toretsk in the Donetsk region, close to the Russian border.
