"The most important thing is to work together on how to end this war – that is our top priority," wrote Volodymyr Zelensky late Monday night, December 9, on X.com (formerly Twitter).

The Ukrainian president was referring to his productive conversation with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump during their meeting at the Elysee Palace, organized by French President Emmanuel Macron last Saturday.

"I reiterate my gratitude to President Macron for organizing it, as well as my deep gratitude to President Trump for his strong resolve to bring this war to a fair end. This is the right approach, and it is important that all details are thoroughly worked out to ensure that peace is truly durable," added the Ukrainian leader.

Amid growing concerns about future U.S. military support, Trump reiterated his promise to end the war within 24 hours of taking office, raising fears in Ukraine about potential territorial concessions to Russia.

On Sunday, Trump called for an immediate ceasefire on his Truth Social platform, noting that Zelensky is willing to reach an agreement to end the conflict.
