“Preliminary data show 14 dead,” Kyiv military-administration chief Tymur Tkachenko wrote on Telegram, adding that rescue crews were searching rubble for survivors.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least 55 people were hurt when multiple projectiles slammed into a residential block and a student dormitory at Kyiv’s Aviation Institute. A staircase in one apartment building collapsed.
The Interior Ministry said Russian forces struck 27 locations across the capital, including homes, schools and critical-infrastructure sites, causing power outages in several districts.
In Odesa, the State Emergency Service reported 13 wounded and warned that more victims could be trapped beneath debris.
Explosions were also heard in Zaporizhzhia, though casualty details were not immediately available.
Polish, NATO aircraft on alert
Poland’s Operational Command said Polish and allied fighters took off pre-dawn as the barrage moved westward, then returned to base shortly after 05:00 a.m. (0300 GMT) once the threat subsided.
