In a statement issued after President Karol Nawrocki’s remarks in Vilnius, the ministry said joining both alliances would “guarantee security not only for Ukraine, but for all of Europe and the Euro-Atlantic community,” adding that this was “not an exaggeration, but contemporary realities.”

The ministry noted that countries participating in the “coalition of the willing” format agree EU membership is among the security guarantees for Kyiv.

It said discussions about Ukraine’s future accession to NATO and the EU are not early, but “strategically necessary” given Russia’s ongoing aggression.

Kyiv’s diplomats also praised Poland’s role since 2022, citing Warsaw’s leadership on military support, its work to ensure an effective logistics hub for international assistance bound for Ukraine, and hospitality extended to millions of Ukrainian citizens.

Nawrocki, speaking to Lithuania’s LRT during a visit to Vilnius, said debate over Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the EU was premature because of the war with Russia and the length of integration processes.

“Of course I believe that Ukraine should in the future become part of Western or Latin civilization,” he said.
