Poland hands over Ukrainian teen accused of recruting minors for attacks

Poland has transferred to Ukraine a 16-year-old Ukrainian citizen, who allegedly helped organize terrorist attacks on behalf of Russian operatives, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported.
According to the SBU, Poland has handed over a 16-year-old from Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine, to Ukrainian authorities after he allegedly helped Russian operatives recruit attackers for strikes in Ukraine while based in the EU. The youth is now in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.

The minor, from Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, is accused of recruiting attackers while in the European Union under instructions from Russian intelligence.

The teenager reportedly used the internet to target other adolescents seeking easy money, including two 15-year-olds from Kharkiv.

Once candiates were indentified, the teen allegedly connected them with Russian agents, who provided further instructions.

In December 2024, the teenagers recruited by the minor detpnated two exposive devices near police stations in Kharkiv.
