In a post on X, Zelensky thanked Trump for his "willingness to support" Ukraine and congratulated him on brokering a deal in the Middle East, describing it as "an outstanding achievement."
He added that "if a war can be stopped in one region, then surely other wars can be stopped as well – including the Russian war."
The Middle East deal referenced by Zelensky is the recent US-brokered agreement aimed at halting hostilities in Gaza.
Zelensky said he informed Trump about recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and that the two leaders discussed "concrete agreements" to bolster Kyiv’s air defence capabilities.
"There are good options and solid ideas on how to truly strengthen us," he wrote.
According to US outlet Axios, the two also discussed the possible transfer of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
Military analysts say such weapons could pressure Moscow to engage in meaningful peace talks, though no agreement on the issue has yet been announced.
Zelensky stressed that "real diplomacy" would require readiness from Russia’s side and could only be achieved "through strength."
