The soldier, initially treated after being badly injured, was extracted from a locality controlled by Russian forces on the seventh attempt after six failed tries, the General Staff said.

Video of the operation was posted on social media, the statement added.

The mission lasted 5 hours and 58 minutes at an average speed of 13 kph. Of the total route, 37 km were driven with a damaged wheel, according to the military.

The vehicle hit an anti-personnel mine en route to the casualty but continued moving with the damaged wheel. On the way to a handover point for Ukrainian medics, it came under attack from an enemy drone, but an armored capsule protected the wounded soldier, the General Staff said.
