The announcement was made during a visit to Athens by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The gas will be transported via a pipeline running across the Balkan peninsula, providing Ukraine with critical supplies after Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure and gas production facilities, the Reuters news agency reported.

Last month, the European Union approved a ban on Russian LNG imports beginning in 2027 in response to Moscow's ongoing war in Ukraine.
