The announcement comes as part of his visit to France, which begins on Monday, 17 November.

A key focus of Zelensky’s trip is strengthening Ukraine’s air defence capabilities and building a “coalition of the willing” to support Kyiv.

The president is visiting a French airbase near Paris and the headquarters of international forces that could be deployed to Ukraine if a ceasefire fails.

Zelensky’s plane touched down at Villacoublay Air Base in the Paris suburbs, where he is scheduled to meet representatives of the French defence industry. He is expected to be shown radar systems, anti-drone weapons, missile-based air defences, and the Rafale fighter jet.

French media, including Le Monde, speculate that France may announce for the first time the delivery of Rafale jets to Ukraine.

However, official details of any agreements are expected to be released jointly by French President Emmanuel Macron and Zelensky during a meeting at the Élysée Palace.

Analysts note that the visit also comes amid a recent corruption scandal involving one of Zelensky’s aides, with the Ukrainian president reportedly seeking to reassure European allies of Kyiv’s ongoing commitment and integrity.
