In a recorded address on New Year's Day, Tusk said he could name "a thousand reasons" for that pride and highlighted 10 areas he said demonstrated Poland’s success.

First, he pointed to what he described as "a secure and tight Polish eastern border, which is also Europe's border, and a responsible and tough asylum policy, an example to follow for all Europe, that has led to a more than 90 percent fall in the number of migrants crossing our borders."

Second, he cited the expansion of Poland’s armed forces, which he said are becoming "the biggest modern army in the European Union so that Poland and Europe can be kept safe from the East."

Third, Tusk pointed to "an effective and strict criminal policy that protects our towns and citizens, and thanks to which we can hunt criminals, including saboteurs sent to us by Russia."

Tusk also noted that Forbes magazine has ranked Warsaw as the most attractive European city to visit in 2026.

Among the domestic achievements listed, Tusk said more than 8,000 babies were born in 2025 thanks to the government’s in vitro fertilisation programme, and that average wages rose by nearly 10 percent over the year.

He said Poland’s GDP had surpassed USD 1 trillion, unemployment was among the lowest in Europe and economic growth among the highest, while inflation had fallen sharply.

He described the economy as a "Goldilocks economy," meaning conditions were "just right."

Tusk also highlighted Poland's support for some 2 million Ukrainians who arrived after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as well as the country's growing role as a logistics hub connecting Europe through expanding road and rail networks.

As his final point, he pointed to what he called an "energy revolution," citing rapid growth in renewable energy and investments in nuclear and offshore power.

"I have every reason to be proud of Poland," Tusk said, adding that his New Year’s wish for Europe was for it to "be like Poland: vibrant, courageous and safe."

"Good luck with that," he concluded.
