The talks, scheduled for Friday and Saturday in the Emirati capital, mark the first time representatives of all three countries will take part in trilateral talks aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
“The Donbas issue is key,” Zelensky told reporters in remarks shared via the WhatsApp messaging app. “It will be talked about and discussed in the context of how it is viewed by the three parties.”
Zelensky said he would receive updates from Ukraine’s chief negotiator, Rustem Umerov, during the talks.
“We’ll be sharing information with you,” he said.
The Ukrainian president also said that an agreement on US-backed security guarantees for Ukraine was ready to be signed, with the timing and location dependent on US President Donald Trump.
“It’s up to him,” Zelensky said. “We are ready to sign these documents, which I want to stress again have historic significance.”
Zelensky said on Thursday that he had held “productive and substantive” talks with Trump on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, though territorial issues remained unresolved.
He added that an agreement on Ukraine’s postwar economic recovery was nearing completion as part of efforts to end the nearly four-year conflict.
