Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the wounded were injured mainly near the entrance to an oil refinery, though he stressed that the facility's technological infrastructure had not been damaged. More than 120 drones were shot down over the Moscow region in the past 24 hours, he added.

Russia's defense ministry said air defense units intercepted the drones over 14 Russian federal regions, occupied Crimea, and the Black and Azov Seas, calling it one of the most powerful Ukrainian attacks since the full-scale war began more than four years ago.

Strikes hit residential buildings across several Moscow-region localities. In Khimki, northwest of Moscow, a drone struck a private house, killing a woman and leaving one person trapped under rubble. In the village of Pogorelyky near Mytishchi, northeast of the capital, two people — a man and a woman — were killed when a drone hit a house under construction.

In Krasnogorsk, bordering Moscow, a drone struck an apartment block in the Putilkovo district, damaging several flats but causing no injuries. Further strikes were reported in the Istra district, around 40 kilometers from Moscow, where an apartment building and six private homes were damaged and four people were taken for medical treatment.

Drone debris also fell on the grounds of Sheremetyevo airport, though the airport said the fragments landed at a safe distance from passenger and aircraft service areas and operations continued normally. Flight schedule disruptions were reported at Kaliningrad's Khrabrovo airport due to temporary airspace restrictions over part of the Leningrad region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that his country had the right to strike oil and military targets inside Russia in response to a devastating Russian attack on Kyiv the previous day that killed at least 24 people.
