Gliński, who is also Poland’s minister of culture, national heritage and sport, is feeling well, has no symptoms and is working remotely, his ministry said.

Meanwhile, officials said that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki does not have the coronavirus, despite coming into contact with a security officer infected with COVID-19.

Government spokesman Piotr Müller said on Tuesday evening that Morawiecki "remains in quarantine pending appropriate, further decisions by a doctor and sanitary services."

Poland on Wednesday reported a record 6,526 new coronavirus infections and a record 116 new deaths, its worst daily toll since the start of the pandemic.

Amid a spike in coronavirus cases, strict new rules came into effect in Poland at the weekend under which everyone is required to wear a face covering when going out in public.
