The reading was in line with an earlieestimate by the labour ministry.

There were around 822,200 people without jobs across the nation at the end of March, compared with 845,300 a month earlier, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) office.

The statistics agency reported earlier this month that employment in Polish companies inched down 0.2 percent in March on average in year-on-year terms.

According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, unemployment in Poland was a modest 2.9 percent in February, the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
