Polish PM Donald Tusk announces new cabinet - live updates

On Wednesday, July 23, shortly after 10 a.m., the official announcement of decisions regarding the Polish government reshuffle began.

The previous cabinet under Donald Tusk consisted of 26 ministers, including seven ministers without portfolio. The new lineup is expected to include two major ministries - economic and energy.

Below is a live update provided by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister (KPRM).

Poland unveils new cabinet following July 23 government reshuffle

Key appointments include:

  • Deputy Prime Minister responsible for foreign policy, European affairs, and relations with Ukraine: Radosław Sikorski
  • Minister of Health: Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, succeeding Izabela Leszczyna
  • Minister of Justice: Waldemar Żurek, replacing Adam Bodnar
  • Minister of Culture: Marta Cienkowska, taking over from Hanna Wróblewska
  • Minister of the Interior and Administration: Maciej Kierwiński, succeeding Tomasz Siemoniak
  • Coordinator for special services and fight against illegal migration: Tomasz Siemoniak
  • Minister of Energy: Miłosz Motyka, new position consolidating responsibilities previously split between the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the Ministry of Industry
  • Minister of State Assets: Wojciech Balczun
  • Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development: Stefan Krajewski, replacing Czesław Siekierski
  • Minister of Sport: Jakub Rutnicki, succeeding Sławomir Nitras

Finance Minister Adam Domański will remain in his post and will also take on additional responsibility for overseeing Poland's economic policy.

Minister Maciej Berek will play a “key role” in the government. He will be responsible for implementing government policy and, together with Chief of the Chancellery Jan Grabiec and their team, will oversee monitoring and regular evaluations of ministerial commitments.

The first review is scheduled in one month, with subsequent checks every quarter, the Prime Minister said.

Several ministers to remain in post

Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz will continue as Minister for Funds and Regional Policy. Barbara Nowacka remains Minister of Education, while Marcin Kulasek will retain his role as Minister of Science and Higher Education.

Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk stays on as Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Dariusz Klimczak continues as Minister of Infrastructure, and Paulina Hennig-Kloska remains Minister of the Environment.
