Polish deputy PM, NATO chief hold talks ahead of Trump-Putin summit

Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski spoke on Wednesday with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte about allied coordination before the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska.

Sikorski confirmed the discussion on social media.

The Alaska meeting, scheduled for Friday, will focus on potential steps toward peace in the war in Ukraine.

Earlier on Wednesday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk attended a meeting of European leaders including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to agree on a common European position ahead of the Alaska summit.

Later, a video conference with Trump and Zelensky presented Europe’s stance, with Poland represented by President Karol Nawrocki.

This was followed by a wider meeting of 30 European leaders, including Tusk, to finalise the bloc’s position.
