Under Poland’s constitution, the president may convene such a council in matters of special importance. It consists of the government meeting under the president’s chairmanship.

Unlike the Council of Ministers, its decisions are not legally binding.

President outlines key priorities at Cabinet Council

President Nawrocki emphasized that “keeping commitments is essential for our cooperation to succeed,” noting that the 21-point plan he promised during his campaign remains in place.

The politician also called on ministers in the Polish government to update their so-called “100 key initiatives” plan, making it clear which proposals are still being actively pursued.

The live broadcast is below.

“A roadmap like this would ensure that both the President and the public are informed. We need to eliminate the chaos,” he said, explaining that “it’s chaotic when I receive three different amendments to the same laws at the same time.”

He also addressed social programs, including the “800 plus” benefits for working parents with Ukrainian citizenship, stressing that decisions made previously need to be reviewed and updated as circumstances change.

“Increasing taxes is something I do not intend to accept. I believe that closing loopholes in the tax system requires greater government commitment. Filling the gap at the expense of additional social groups is unacceptable. We are ready to help,” announced the President of Poland.

Earlier, President Nawrocki stressed that a key condition for cooperation between himself and the Polish government will be honoring commitments.

During the Cabinet Council, he indicated that the discussion would focus on three main issues: the state of public finances and the need to tighten the tax system, the urgent implementation of strategic investments such as the Central Communication Port and nuclear power plants, and the concerns of Polish farmers regarding the EU-Mercosur trade agreement.

The President also expressed his willingness to work collaboratively to block the agreement if necessary.
