Solidarity tribute concert to be held at historic Gdańsk shipyard

A free concert featuring some of Poland’s biggest artists will take place on Thursday evening at the Gdańsk Shipyard, in northern Poland, to mark 45 years since the rise of the Solidarity movement.

Organisers say the show will celebrate Poland’s “heritage of freedom” and highlight the results of a nationwide vote on the figures and events from 1980–2025 that Poles are most proud of. T

hey added the concert aims to show “many faces of solidarity, past and present,” and stress that solidarity remains a living principle in Polish society.

The lineup includes Doda, Edyta GórniakPerfect and Justyna Steczkowska - some of the most popular stars of the Polish music scene - with cultural figures and Solidarity veterans also expected to attend.

The event is co-hosted by Polish state broadcaster TVP, the European Solidarity Centre and the city of Gdańsk.
