The defense ministry signed contracts for 46 PET/PCL passive-location radars for the Narew program, including 28 firm orders and 18 as options. The PGZ-NAREW consortium will supply the systems, with PIT-Radwar as contractor.
“This is PLN 5.8 billion invested in a Polish defense company […] an investment in security and Polish industry,” Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said, adding that security ties in with the economy and jobs.
The base order for 28 units is valued at about PLN 3.9 billion (EUR 0.94 billion), with the optional tranche worth about PLN 1.9 billion (EUR 0.46 billion). Deliveries are planned for 2030–2038. The radars will form part of an integrated, multi-layer air and missile defense network.
PGZ said the system provides continuous airspace surveillance independent of active radars, emitting no signals and remaining undetectable to hostile ESM. Each radar combines PET (Passive Emitter Tracking) and PCL (Passive Coherent Location) subsystems, fused to cover a wide frequency range.
Separately, the Armament Agency signed a contract with Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” – Radom for 23,000 MSBS Grot rifles in the latest version, continuing earlier deals. The Polish Armed Forces have received 160,000 Grots to date. Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Bejda called it “another step in developing a modern army.”
The XXXIII International Defense Industry Exhibition (MSPO) opened Tuesday in Kielce, hosting over 800 companies from 35 countries and delegations from 45 states. The fair runs until Sept. 5.
