Nawrocki announced the invitation during a press conference at Blair House, the US president’s guest residence across from the White House.

The United States will hold the presidency of the group of the world's largest economies in 2026, with the summit scheduled at Trump’s resort in Doral, near Miami.

Marcin Przydacz, head of Nawrocki’s International Policy Bureau, said the invitation marks the first step in Poland’s effort to eventually join the group.

Nawrocki also said that during their meeting at the White House he invited Trump to visit Poland, though no date was set. He did not rule out a visit next year.

The Polish president told reporters that Trump gave Poland security guarantees during their White House talks and underscored US-Polish military cooperation.

Trump declared on Wednesday that the United States would keep its military presence in Poland and may even expand it.

"I consider this a major success of the meeting in light of the debate on shifting American troops in Europe," Nawrocki said.

He added that US-made F-35 fighter jets ordered by Poland in 2020 are expected to arrive in January. Until now, the aircraft have remained in the United States, where Polish pilots have been training.

Nawrocki said that in the closed portion of his meeting with Trump, they discussed expanding the US troop presence in Poland.

“I can reveal that during the plenary talks, we spoke with the president and the ministers about enlarging the US military component in Poland, which I welcome in particular,” Nawrocki told reporters. He said there were “concrete discussions” on the issue.

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of the Polish president’s National Security Bureau, have been tasked with drawing up proposals following the leaders’ decisions, Nawrocki said, adding that it was too early to provide details.

Poland's Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said in Miami on Tuesday that he had asked the United States to support Poland’s bid to join the G20 group of the world's largest economies.

Speaking after a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Sikorski said he made the request because Poland has now reached the status of a trillion-dollar economy.
