Rose, nominated by President Donald Trump in February, cleared the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in September without Democratic support.
The panel had first considered his nomination in late July with the same result, but repeated the vote due to a procedural oversight, according to the committee record described in the source text.
During a July hearing, Rose repeatedly praised Poland as a model ally. He said he would work to improve relations between Poland and Israel, argued that Poland is unfairly blamed in Israel for complicity in the Holocaust, and pledged not to favor either the liberal government or the opposition conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party in domestic political competition.
The vote unfolded along party lines as Republicans backed a bundled slate of nominees, including ambassadors, under revised Senate procedures allowing en bloc confirmation. It was the second time the chamber used the group-voting method, the source text said.
Rose is described as a right-wing commentator and radio host and a former adviser to Vice President Mike Pence. He is known for staunchly pro-Israel, Zionist views and has expressed unreserved support for Israeli government policies, including in Gaza and West Bank.
From 1997 to 2005, Rose served as publisher and editor-in-chief of the Jerusalem Post. Earlier in his career he worked in Indiana state government, was a journalist for a Japanese television station in the 1980s, and authored Big Miracle, a book about the rescue of whales trapped under Arctic ice that was adapted into a Hollywood film in 2012.
Several allies of the president were included in Tuesday’s package. Among them was Sergio Gor, director of the White House personnel office, who was confirmed as ambassador to India. Citing official documents, the Times of Malta reported in July that Gor — who had said he was from Malta — was born in the former Soviet Union, in present-day Uzbekistan, under the name Grochowski.
Republicans said the rule change enabling bundled votes would expedite confirmations across the administration. Democrats opposed Rose’s nomination in committee and on the floor, but the GOP majority prevailed in the full Senate.
