The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) on Sunday warned of heavy snowfall and whiteout conditions, with snow accumulation expected to reach up to half a meter in parts of the country.
In many northern coastal regions, the highest Level III and Level II weather warnings were issued.
Additional Level II alerts for drifting and blowing snow came into force on Sunday morning for some coastal areas, alongside Level I warnings for strong winds.
Average wind speeds were forecast at up to 55 kph, with gusts reaching 85 kph.
The warnings were set to remain in effect until Monday morning
The Government Security Center (RCB) also issued a nationwide alert, cautioning residents about hazardous road conditions and potential power outages, particularly in northern coastal regions.
Across much of the country, snowfall combined with strong winds was expected to create drifting snow and poor visibility through Sunday evening, with some warnings lasting until 8 p.m.
Authorities urged residents to limit travel and remain alert as winter conditions intensified.
