The event, convened by US Secretary of State Mark Rubio, brings together foreign ministers from dozens of countries to discuss reducing global reliance on minerals mined and processed in China.
A formal agreement on cooperation is expected to be signed.
“This forward-looking and crucial effort aims to safeguard supply chains, reduce dependencies, and enhance international collaboration in research, innovation, and knowledge sharing,” Poland’s embassy in the United States said in a statement.
“Without access to these raw materials, our industrial capabilities will be limited, and the future uncertain," it added.
The initiative follows similar meetings in January involving finance ministers from North America, Europe and Asia.
During his February 3–5 stay, Sikorski will also meet members of both US political parties in Congress, speak with policy experts at local think tanks, and open a commemorative event at the Polish embassy marking the 280th anniversary of Tadeusz Kościuszko’s birth and the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.
