The unmanned aerial vehicle fell at the air base in Leźnica Wielka, near the city of Łódź, without causing damage or injuries, authorities said.

“In the area of the military unit, an unmanned aerial vehicle has fallen without causing any damage,” the military police said in a post on the X social media platform, adding that investigators were working at the scene.

Military police said that operating aerial vehicles over military facilities is a criminal offence punishable by up to five years in prison.

They said the drone’s operator, a 22-year-old Polish citizen, had been detained.

He was charged with violating aviation regulations, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The Leźnica Wielka air base hosts units of Poland’s 25th Air Cavalry Brigade and is one of the country’s largest military helicopter bases, providing support for air assault operations, officials said.
