Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of Poland’s conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, has ruled out any alliance with the far-right Confederation of the Polish Crown, led by MEP Grzegorz Braun.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Kaczyński said PiS was not considering cooperation with the grouping, describing it as "completely unserious" and made up of people who "should not be in public life".

"There is no question of any alliances with Braun’s party," he said.

Kaczyński also suggested the party included individuals linked to Russia or expressing pro-Kremlin views, and said some figures associated with it had faced espionage charges in the past.

"People who have been in prison on charges of spying for Russia… are people who should not be in Polish public life at all," he said.

Kaczyński argued that any cooperation would be "compromising and completely dysfunctional" and said Poland needed a government that was both independent and effective.

He has previously said he hopes the Confederation of the Polish Crown will not enter parliament and that PiS "will not cross this line".

Separately, PiS MP Przemysław Czarnek told Polish daily Rzeczpospolita that post-election coalition decisions would depend on voters’ choices, adding that "everything is possible" in forming a parliamentary majority.

Grzegorz Braun has repeatedly drawn condemnation for actions and statements widely described as antisemitic, including using a fire extinguisher to put out Hanukkah candles in Poland’s parliament in 2023, an incident that led to legal proceedings and international criticism.

He has also denied the existence of gas chambers at Auschwitz and made other inflammatory remarks about Jews, prompting investigations, political backlash and accusations of Holocaust denial.
