Consul Paweł Owad said the rehearsal hall of the "Polanie znad Dniepru" song and dance ensemble — which has promoted Polish folk culture for more than a quarter-century — was among the sites hit, leaving the group unable to continue its rehearsals. The premises of Language Bridge, an organization dedicated to spreading the Polish language, were also damaged.
Owad shared photographs of the destruction at the Language Bridge offices on Facebook, showing shattered windows and ruined walls. Members of the organization, who had arrived to clean up the site, posed amid the rubble holding a Polish flag.
"Let's not be indifferent; if anyone reading this post wishes to support the Polish community in Kyiv, please get in touch", Owad wrote.
In a separate post tagged with the hashtag #PolacyŚwiatu — a Polish Foreign Ministry profile highlighting the contributions of Poles living abroad — the consul urged assistance for the dance ensemble.
"The rehearsal hall of the 'Polanie znad Dniepru' song and dance ensemble was also hit in the overnight attack on Kyiv, which currently prevents the ensemble from holding further rehearsals," he said.
Kyiv authorities said the mass attack, which also struck the broader Kyiv region, killed four civilians and wounded 81.
