Polish Sejm Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty said the meeting would be attended by Yaël Braun-Pivet, president of France’s National Assembly, and Julia Klöckner, President of the German Bundestag, who are coming to Warsaw at the invitation of the Sejm.

Czarzasty described the meeting as “very important” and said it would underline Poland’s role within the Weimar Triangle.

He said further meetings concerning the Visegrád Group should be expected soon. He also said he would soon attend a meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of all the Nordic countries.

Czarzasty said the Nordic meeting would culminate in a major meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of all EU countries and guests invited by them in May next year, to be held at the Polish Sejm.

“Given the security of our country and our citizens, it is very important to highlight the issues affecting the border area along the Ukrainian border and the Russian-Ukrainian war,” he said.

Czarzasty had already discussed the planned Weimar Triangle meeting last Friday, when he called on President Karol Nawrocki to appoint ambassadors.

He said Nawrocki had refused to approve ambassadors for Polish diplomatic missions in countries including Italy, India, Ukraine, the United States, Germany, France and Britain.

"This makes Poland look ridiculous" abroad, Czarzasty told reporters.

The Weimar Triangle, established on 29 August 1991 in Weimar, Germany, is an informal format for trilateral cooperation between Poland, Germany and France.
