PiS parliamentary leader Mariusz Błaszczak announced on X on Wednesday that the party's parliamentary caucus was filing a notification against eight people who took part in what he described as a meeting of an organised criminal group inside the Constitutional Tribunal.
He said the notification included suspicions of an attack on a constitutional state body and participation in an organised criminal group. He said the party would seek criminal accountability for those responsible.
He said that even if Justice Minister and Prosecutor-General Waldemar Żurek "ignores the notification, the matter will not be buried."
He added that governments, ministers and prosecutors change, but "responsibility for breaking the law does not disappear with the loss of office."
He also said that an "attempted coup" would not "go unpunished."
Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska convened a general assembly of Constitutional Tribunal Judges on Tuesday.
It was attended by eight judges elected by the current parliament: three whose oaths were received by President Karol Nawrocki and five others who took their oaths in parliament using the formula “before the president” and subsequently submitted them in writing to the president's office.
The assembly established that 12 people were entitled to participate and that the eight attendees met the required quorum of at least two-thirds of the tribunal's total number of judges.
It unanimously determined that eight people constituted a quorum for Tuesday's meeting, as the court's head, Bogdan Święczkowski, and his deputy Bartłomiej Sochański had been suspended from their duties.
Those voting also decided that Jarosław Wyrembak did not have the status of a Tribunal judge, as he had taken the place of someone they considered to have been improperly elected to the Tribunal.
The meeting lasted about two hours. In addition to approving the Tribunal's budget plan for 2027, the judges selected disciplinary spokespeople by drawing lots and selected panels for proceedings concerning the orders suspending Święczkowski and Sochański from their duties.
