Incident on Belarus border: Polish soldier hospitalized

A Polish soldier has been hospitalized after being injured while preventing a group of migrants from crossing the country’s border with Belarus, military officials said.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. local time on Monday near the village of Czeremcha, in eastern Poland.

According to the Armed Forces’ Operational Command, the soldier sustained an injury to his left arm. He was given first aid at the scene before being transported to a hospital in the regional capital, Białystok. His life is not in danger.

The incident occurred during “Safe Podlasie,” a military operation aimed at strengthening security along the border, which has seen repeated attempts by groups of migrants to cross from Belarus.

Military Police have launched an investigation.
