As previously reported, on Monday (25 August) at around 8:00 p.m. in the town of Czeremcha in eastern Poland, a group of illegal migrants attempted to breach the border. One of the intervening soldiers was wounded.
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that an attack on officers defending the borders is an attack on the Polish state.
The migrants were detained, and the case is being investigated by the Military Gendarmerie.

Speaking to Polish news outlet Wp.pl, he added that aggression and pressure on this part of the border have been increasing for some time.
According to Zalewski, the barrier along the border is effective, making crossings practically impossible, which has reportedly increased aggression among migrants trained by the Belarusian KGB and Russian FSB.
The politician also said that intelligence from the Ministry of National Defence indicates the Russian exercises will take place further east, closer to the Belarus-Russia border, rather than directly at the Polish frontier.
Poland readies “Iron Defender” amid Zapad-2025
While the Russian-Belarusian Zapad-2025 exercises, taking place from 12–16 September, may raise border pressure and hybrid threats, they do not pose a direct danger to Poland, Zalewski stressed.
In response, Poland will conduct its own large-scale defensive drills, “Iron Defender,” involving 34,000 troops and over 600 pieces of equipment to demonstrate readiness and bolster national security.
