Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has called on world leaders to do everything in their power to prevent war from becoming a daily reality, speaking at an Easter gathering with soldiers at a military air base in Warsaw.

"Starting a war is no great skill – avoiding one is," Tusk said, adding that no one understands the value of peace better than soldiers.

He also connected virtually with Polish troops deployed on missions at home and abroad.

Tusk said Poland would continue to "arm itself," with the goal of building what he described as the strongest and most modern military in Europe – "not out of political ambition, but to preserve peace" in the region.

He added that the only justification for war is defending one's own borders, people and state, and that Poland stands ready to do so.

Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said the military's key priorities include developing drone and counter-drone systems, space technology, artificial intelligence and long-range precision strike capabilities.

He warned that "the current moment is the most dangerous" since the end of World War II, and pledged that no available funding – European or national – would be left unused for defence.
