The letter, written by Tomasz Chamera, Vice President of the Polish Olympic Committee, states that the IOC recommends three ways to address the crisis.
“The first and most beneficial option would be for Radosław Piesiewicz to resign as President of the Committee. This would end all doubts the IOC has about the situation. However, it is difficult to expect such a step, since he has denied the allegations and claims to be the victim of a political game,” Chamera wrote, according to Onet.
As a second option, Chamera notes that the Committee’s governing bodies could “suspend or dismiss the President.” He adds that a board meeting would be required and that Articles 18 and 21 of the statute allow dismissal due to damage to the Committee’s reputation or inability to continue in the role.
The third scenario, described as “most risky,” involves direct intervention by the IOC.
“If the Polish Olympic Committee fails to resolve its issues independently, the IOC may suspend our membership. As a result, Polish athletes would not be able to compete in the Olympic Games, including the Youth Olympic Games,” Chamera wrote, as quoted by Onet.
