At a virtual meeting with diplomats accredited in Poland, Zbigniew Rau was quoted as saying on Thursday: “In our bilateral relations with the Middle East and North Africa countries we want to focus on strengthening our ties and searching for new areas of cooperation, including business relations.”

He added: “Positive past experiences provide a firm foundation to revive the presence of Polish companies and entrepreneurs.”

Rau referred to “historical and cultural links between Poland and the Arab world” and Poland’s help for countries in the region amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Polish foreign ministry said.

It added that during the videoconference, Rau “extended his wishes to the Arab diplomatic corps and noted the need for freedom, security, prosperity and peace in the Middle East and North Africa.”
