Heads of state representing some of the world's biggest economies, including China's Xi Jinping and Russia’s Vladimir Putin, have received the invitation to attend the two-day meeting next month.
The start of the the Leaders Summit on Climate coincides with Earth Day, which falls on April 22.
Polish President Andrzej Duda has been asked to give a speech at the event on the topic of combining climate policies with job creation, his chief of staff, Krzysztof Szczerski, told the Polish News Agency PAP.
The major idea behind the meeting is "to galvanize efforts by the major economies to tackle the climate crisis," the White House said in a statement.
Also, the summit will "highlight examples of how enhanced climate ambition will create good-paying jobs, advance innovative technologies, and help vulnerable countries adapt to climate impacts”.
The event will be digital-only due to the coronavirus pandemic.
