On Monday, Zbigniew Rau will join fellow European Union foreign ministers for a meeting in the Belgian capital to discuss European security, Poland's PAP news agency reported.
The ministers are also expected to speak to their Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.
On Tuesday, Poland’s top diplomat will visit NATO headquarters to meet with the alliance’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, according to officials.
Afterwards, he is set to appear before NATO’s North Atlantic Council to outline Poland’s priorities at the rotating helm of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Poland’s turn at the head of the OSCE lasts throughout 2022.
Meanwhile, at the request of Ukraine, the OSCE’s Permanent Council will convene in Vienna, Austria, on Monday to discuss the situation around the former Soviet republic, the PAP news agency reported.
“The aim of the session is to discuss everything that’s happened in the past few days and what steps the OSCE should take in the circumstances to bring about a de-escalation of tensions,” Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński told the news agency.
'Critical importance of OSCE'
On Sunday, Rau held a phone call with OSCE Secretary-General Helga Maria Schmid. She later tweeted that the talks focused on the “rapidly deteriorating security situation in eastern Ukraine.”
“We underlined the critical importance of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission’s work and negotiation efforts by the Trilateral Contact Group in ensuring continued dialogue and achieving de-escalation,” Schmid added.
Threats to global peace and security were also on the agenda as the Polish foreign minister hosted his Australian counterpart, Marise Payne, on Sunday, officials told reporters.
During their meeting in Warsaw, Rau and Payne discussed the prospects of future cooperation between Poland and Australia, as the two countries marked 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement.
