Meanwhile, Levits handed Duda Latvia’s Order of Viesturs at a ceremony that took place Wednesday during a three-day visit of the Polish presidential pair to Latvia for talks on Russia's war against Ukraine.

Eglits also awarded the country’s special Crosses of Appreciation to Duda’s top foreign policy aide, Marcin Przydacz, presidential minister Małgorzata Paprocka and Poland’s ambassador to Latvia Monika Michaliszyn.

At a press conference, the presidents of the two countries also said they agreed that a special tribunal should be created as part of NATO or otherwise to try those responsible for war crimes in Ukraine.

"We must punish those who caused this war," Latvia's Levits told the media, as quoted by Polish state news agency PAP.
