Henryka Mościcka-Dendys, Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister, provided details of the ongoing evacuation efforts during a press briefing.
The first group of evacuees arrived in Warsaw on Wednesday morning after traveling overland from Israel to Egypt and then flying home.
The upcoming flight will depart from Jordan’s capital, Amman, reflecting a shift to a safer and more accessible evacuation route.
New evacuation of Poles from the Middle East through Jordan
“We expected a larger number of Poles interested in leaving, but not everyone could manage the difficult and long overland journey through Egypt,” Mościcka-Dendys explained. “That’s why we are organising this second flight via Amman, especially for those with health or mobility issues.”
The evacuation plane, operated by the Polish Armed Forces, will carry only Polish nationals this time. The group has been informed and is prepared for departure.
In addition to these evacuations, Polish embassy staff in Tehran are currently traveling toward the Azerbaijan border to catch a scheduled flight from Baku early Thursday morning.
“We expect them to make the 3 a.m. flight,” said Mościcka-Dendys, noting the group consists of 13 people registered in the government’s Odysseus system who requested to return.
The Ministry has not ruled out organising further flights if the demand continues.
Mościcka-Dendys said the goal is to complete all evacuations by the end of the week, with the last flight planned for no later than the weekend. She emphasized the ministry’s commitment to ensuring the safe return of all Polish citizens amidst the escalating conflict in the region.
Since the evacuation operation began, over 300 Polish citizens have registered their interest in leaving Israel, a significant increase from the initial 64 people. On the Wednesday flight alone, 154 evacuees arrived in Warsaw, including 130 Polish nationals.
