Lithuania’s State Security Department (VSD) said in a statement published on Thursday that KGB officers are contacting members of the Belarusian diaspora via social networks and other modern channels, seeking details on democratic movements, initiatives and prevailing sentiment.

According to the VSD, the Belarusian regime offers cash and benefits—including new passports, the ability to travel to and from Belarus, and assurances of a safe return—while using psychological pressure and intimidation when cooperation is delayed or refused.

The VSD said operations targeting the Vilnius office of opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya have increased, aiming to disrupt its activities.

Lithuanian authorities urged Belarusians who have found refuge in the country not to accept “provocative offers” and warned of criminal liability for working with the security and intelligence services of hostile states.

Lithuania’s Migration Department says 52,000 Belarusian citizens have the right to reside in the country.
