U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday told former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev to “watch his words,” saying the Kremlin security official was “entering very dangerous territory” by raising the prospect of conflict between the two countries.
“Russia and the USA do almost no business together. Let’s keep it that way,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, calling Medvedev a “failed former President of Russia, who thinks he’s still President.”
Medvedev, now deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, said on Monday on platform X that Trump’s Aug. 8 deadline for Moscow to move toward ending its war in Ukraine was an “ultimatum game” that could spark war with the United States.
“Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war,” he wrote. “Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country [USA].”
