Sikorski, on a two-day visit, met with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss enhancing cooperation, collaboration in international organizations, and sharing expertise in combating disinformation.

During the talks, he signed a memorandum of cooperation between the foreign ministries of Poland and Pakistan, as well as an agreement between the Polish Institute of International Affairs and the Islamabad Institute of Strategic Studies, establishing regular bilateral consultations.

Poland highlights support for Gaza peace plan

At a joint press conference, Sikorski emphasized Poland’s commitment to the recently announced Gaza peace plan, signed last week in Egypt by leaders from the United States, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar.

The Polish foreign minister noted that the initiative is primarily led by Arab and Islamic countries, but Poland intends to participate symbolically, showing support for peace efforts led by President Trump and other international actors.

Sikorski also briefed his Pakistani counterpart on the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border, describing an ongoing migrant crisis triggered by Belarus and Russia, with some Pakistani citizens affected.

He emphasized that Poland welcomes legal migration and student exchanges but maintains a strict policy against illegal entry.

Poland’s top diplomat further highlighted potential areas for cooperation with Islamabad, including trade, water management, and energy, citing Polish companies involved in natural gas extraction in Pakistan.

This is the first visit by a Polish foreign minister to Pakistan since 2011, when Sikorski also represented the European Union during talks in Islamabad.
