“Together with the leaders of France, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada and Japan, we have declared our readiness to work on the American peace plan, while initially voicing reservations about some of its points,” Tusk wrote in his post on X on Sunday.
“Tomorrow, European leaders will meet in Luanda, ahead of the Africa–European Union summit, where I will outline the Polish perspective”, the PM added.
On Monday, Angola—celebrating the 50th anniversary of its independence—will host the EU–African Union summit. On its sidelines, EU heads of state and government are expected to meet to discuss a 28-point peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
On Saturday, during a phone call with Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky, Tusk discussed Kyiv's stance on the proposal after Washington signalled the U.S.-drafted framework must be accepted soon to end the conflict with Russia.
"It requires joint work. Russia cannot impose its conditions on Ukraine and Europe. Everything concerning Poland must be agreed upon with the Polish government," Tusk then wrote on X.
