The announcement follows US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s remarks about the summit and its focus on innovation, energy security, and new technologies.
The summit, scheduled for December 2026 in Miami, will showcase the values of innovation, entrepreneurship, and perseverance, and under the US presidency will focus on removing regulatory burdens, securing safe and affordable energy supply chains, and advancing new technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Rubio emphasised that the American-led G20 will bring together “friends, neighbours and partners,” welcoming both the world’s largest economies and emerging allies.
US Embassy highlights Poland’s rise
The Embassy, citing US Secretary of State, notes that Poland, once behind the Iron Curtain, has risen to join the world’s top 20 economies, demonstrating that a forward-looking strategy and close collaboration with the United States can promote mutual prosperity.
Poland’s success is contrasted with South Africa, the previous G20 host, which, despite strong institutions and resources, has struggled with policies that discouraged investment and limited economic growth.
The US administration will not extend an invitation to South Africa’s government for the 2026 summit but continues to support the South African people.
