He emphasized that the Polish diplomatic mission in Caracas remains safe for the time being.
Tusk noted that the Polish citizens traveled to Venezuela despite repeated warnings from the foreign minister advising against visiting the country due to its internal instability and the risk of a potential conflict.
The situation in Venezuela is under constant observation and the authorities will provide updates as new information becomes available, Tusk said.
“Poland's diplomatic mission in Caracas is currently safe as nothing has happened there in connection with the attack", Tusk asserted.
Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maciej Wewiór confirmed that he had no information indicating that any Polish citizens in Venezuela require assistance at this time.
He added that most Poles in that country are long-term residents.
These announcements came as US President Donald Trump earlier on Saturday said that US forces had captured Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro after launching a "large scale strike" on the South American country.
In a brief phone interview with The New York Times, Trump hailed the "brilliant" operation.
"A lot of good planning and lot of great, great troops and great people," the paper quoted Trump as saying.
Trump's stunning announcement follows months of steadily mounting US military and economic pressure on leftist leader Maduro and his country's oil-export-dependent economy.
